Associate Director - Project Controls

Associate Director – Programme Controls | Midlands, UK | Infrastructure

We’re seeking an Associate Director with proven rail sector experience to lead major programmes in the UK Infrastructure sector, specifically in the Midlands.


Job Objectives

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead Programme Controls for major programmes, ensuring accuracy and consistency in:
    • Planning, cost, safety, environment, and performance reporting
    • Effective deployment of controls team resources
  • ensions include reviewing new project proposals and managing resource planning to ensure efficient delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop realistic resource and delivery plans for programmes.
  • Identify and manage resourcing requirements in partnership with planning functions.
  • Provide daily reporting to Programme and Project Managers on plans, costs, and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to data standards in cost and performance systems.
  • Oversee the Investment Plan Process and compliance with the Investment Competence Framework.
  • Perform SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) control responsibilities where applicable.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive industry experience in programme controls, including schedule development, monitoring, and analysis.
  • Proven expertise in the UK Infrastructure construction sector, particularly in rail programmes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in PC operating systems and standard software applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Primavera (P6), Microsoft Office, and industry-specific tools (e.g., engineering, procurement, EPC, construction).
  • Understanding of engineering and construction management.

Nice to Haves

  • Hands-on experience in legal, procurement, and contract management.
