About the Role
We invite a Senior Project Risk Management Professional/Director to join our Scotland Infrastructure Risk team, which supports some of the UK’s most high-profile infrastructure projects, programmes, and clients. This role involves:
- Actively developing, managing, and leading Scotland’s Risk Management function
- Providing strategic input to our national Risk Management community

You’ll work closely with clients and Turner & Townsend teams, taking ownership of engagements and exceeding stakeholder expectations. At this critical moment, you’ll shape a junior risk function in Scotland, mentor talent, and build a high-performing risk capability—playing a key role in advancing risk management across the country.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead
- Manage and delegate activities of the Risk Management team across complex projects/programmes.
- Oversee communication with Senior Management / Stakeholders, providing project updates.

Accountable For
- Brief the team on project scope to ensure clear roles and responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain leadership relationships with interfacing project disciplines.
- Conduct line management duties, including career development and performance management.
Drive
- Continuous Improvement in risk management processes, enhancing client efficiencies and benefits.
- Implement and embed process refinements company-wide, including project discipline alignment.
Promote
- Highlight the value of Risk Management within project and programme teams.
Provide
- Subject Matter Expertise in risk principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Deep analytical expertise (e.g. QCRA, QSRA) for senior stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making.
- Training, coaching and mentorship for clients and junior teams on risk processes.
Support
- Direct oversight of the risk team and associated operational activities.
- Turner & Townsend recruitment activities to expand the project controls capability.
- National/regional Risk Management sites (including relevant Communities of Practice).

This role requires access to client sites across the UK, including the ability to secure/hold a UK driving licence, or be open to travel.

Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate is distinguished by:
- Essential
- Industry-aligned experience in Risk Management on complex projects/programmes.
- Proven cross-disciplinary collaboration (interfacing with others such as cost, scheduling, procurement).
- Successful track record of leading risk teams, including both senior oversight and process scalability.
- Proficiency in multiple risk standards/approaches (e.g., ISO31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA), quantitative analysis, and risk tools (e.g., Safran, @Risk, PRA) alongside qualitative frameworks.
- Desirable
- Exposure to transformation projects, alongside delivery.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts.
- Security Clearance eligibility (preferred).
