Associate Director / Sr Manager, BioPharma Business Development

Senior Manager or Associate Director – BioPharma Business Development

Do you bring a proven track record in business development or commercial sales with biopharma partners? Do you have direct knowledge of precision medicine, genomic applications, or translational solutions used to engage pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners?

Ideally, you will be in proximity to a major life sciences hub in Europe or the US East Coast.


BioPharma Solutions

Through a decentralized global network and patented algorithms, we give the BioPharma community access to high-quality:

  • Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Solutions
  • Biomarker Discovery
  • Clinical Trial Assays
  • Companion Diagnostics (CDx), leveraging the SOPHiA DDM™ platform
    • Including the ctDNA-based LBx solution MSK ACCESS®, powered with SOPHiA DDM™.

Your Mission

You will help drive new customer acquisition and strategic account development across biopharma partners, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to:

  • Build pipeline momentum
  • Convert opportunities into signed projects
  • Expand SOPHiA GENETICS’ presence, focusing on:
    • NGS-based genomic assays
    • Biomarker Discovery
    • Clinical Trial Assays & CDx
    • All powered via the SOPHiA DDM Platform

The Value You Add

  • Drive new business development across BioPharma accounts in Europe and the US East Coast, prioritizing new customer acquisition.
  • Engage strategic accounts by:
    • Proactively managing large pharmaceutical and mid-sized biotech organisations
    • Developing proposals tailored to precision medicine applications
    • Conducting commercial follow-through
  • Lead discussions on:
    • Pilot studies
    • Commercial projects
    • Opportunities in companion diagnostics (CDx) and discovery-related work
  • Maintain a healthy Salesforce pipeline, progressing opportunities through:
    • Early interest and information exchange
    • Proposal development and negotiation
    • Deal closure
  • Serve as a strategic partner working with:
    • Scientific, commercial, and operational teams
    • Shaping customer solutions and operational execution
  • Regularly travel domestically and internationally (~30% of the time) to meet customers and attend events.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Biopharma business development
    • Sales
    • Or highly commercial roles supporting biopharma customers
  • Direct experience selling into, partnering with, or engaging with:
    • Pharmaceutical and mid-sized biopharma organisations
  • A strong grasp of:
    • Precision medicine, genomics, translational research
    • Diagnostic applications or related biopharma solutions
    • Prior NGS or CDx sales experience is highly valuable
  • Proven ability to:
    • Build and progress pipeline opportunities
    • Convert opportunities into signed business projects
  • Demonstrated:
    • Customer-facing leadership
    • Hunting mentality (finding and securing new opportunities)
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills for:
    • Scientific and commercial audiences
  • Educational background:
    • BSc, MSc, or equivalent in a scientific or technical field
