The Role
You will define WSP’s market-leading approach to winning and delivering major ground investigation programmes, combining technical excellence, commercial expertise, and strategic foresight. This is a senior leadership opportunity within Ground & Water, requiring visible influence across all facets of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership: Set the direction for large-scale ground investigation, driving growth, innovation, and market differentiation.
- Opportunity pursuit: Work closely with sector leads and clients to identify, develop, and secure high-value commissions—where WSP can lead design, management, and delivery.
- Technical leadership: Act as the senior technical lead on major projects, ensuring alignment on scope, programme, budget, and risk management.
- Delivery excellence: Champion continuous improvement through best practice, digital solutions, and data-driven insights.
- Client and stakeholder relations: Build and maintain strong partnerships with key clients, contractors, and industry leaders, elevating WSP’s reputation.
- Disciplinary collaboration: Foster integration across sectors to maximise synergies where ground investigation supports wider WSP solutions.

Leadership Focus

Requirements & Qualities
We’re seeking candidates with a proven track record in large-scale ground investigations:
- Technical expertise: Experience designing and delivering complex projects as a Project Director or similar senior role.
- Commercial acumen: Strong bid experience and client credibility at senior levels.
- Leadership: Ability to direct multidisciplinary teams and drive cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Qualification: Chartership (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g., geotechnical, environmental science).
