Associate Director – Urban Drainage & Wastewater Modelling

We’re seeking an Associate Director specialising in urban drainage and wastewater modelling, committed to leading high-impact projects, guiding teams, and delivering technical excellence for projects of national significance. This is your chance to:

You’ll collaborate with engineers and modellers across the UK, backed by our Global Water Team, supporting clients including Northern Ireland Water, Irish Water, Severn Trent, Scottish Water Horizons, Welsh Water, and Southern Water.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams delivering urban drainage and wastewater modelling projects.
- Support project delivery by overseeing resource planning and reviewing technical outputs with senior leadership.
- Develop modelling expertise using InfoWorks ICM, mentoring junior colleagues in best practice and innovation.
- Apply independent engineering judgement to address complex construction and operational challenges.
- Grow client relationships by representing WSP at meetings, managing proposals, and securing new frameworks.
- Strengthen capability within WSP’s water team through knowledge-sharing and continuous skill development.
- Represent WSP at industry conferences and forums to stay at the forefront of practice.

Essential Requirements
- Academic background: Relevant degree, plus chartership (ICE, IEI, IoW, or CIWEM) or clear progress toward it.
- Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience in wastewater and urban drainage modelling using InfoWorks ICM.
- Leadership skills: Ability to assess, guide, and assure the work of others while applying engineering best practices.
- Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of Water Industry Specifications, the Code of Practice for Hydraulic Modelling, and relevant British Standards.
- Communication skills: Proven ability to present complex technical solutions effectively.
