Associate Director/Director, Media Strategy & Communications
Fitch Ratings is seeking an Associate Director/Director to join its London-based Communications team, primarily supporting its Sovereigns and Economics teams across the EMEA region.
Reporting to the Head of Media Strategy, the role requires an experienced practitioner who can lead the development and execution of communications strategies that enhance the visibility, reputation, and commercial relevance of Fitch’s thought leadership across key markets, issues, and audiences.
The successful candidate will be a trusted adviser and enabler for the Sovereigns and Economics teams, as well as partner functions such as Marketing, Business and Relationship Management, and Investor Development.
They will combine strong media relations and issues management expertise alongside proven digital acumen and a track record of using new communications technologies and media platforms to increase impact, relevance, and reach.
About the Team
Fitch Ratings Marketing and Communications organisation is responsible for developing and executing external communication strategies that drive brand awareness, market visibility, and business growth.
It is highly collaborative, drawing on expertise from shared service functions such as digital marketing, creative and design, events, and marketing operations to ensure cohesive, commercially focused communications programmes.
As a member of the Communications team, you will be joining Fitch Ratings at a pivotal time of growth and transformation, with the opportunity to help shape how our thought leadership reaches key audiences across EMEA.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Develop and execute strategic communications plans for Fitch Ratings’ Sovereigns and Economics teams across EMEA, aligned to commercial priorities.
- Produce high-quality communications materials, including:
- Media pitches
- Press releases
- Talking points and Q&As
- By-line articles
- Social media content
- Focus on proactive earned media strategies that raise Fitch’s profile, including:
- Exclusive stories
- Embargoed research
- Data-led storytelling
- Content partnerships
- Podcasts
- Balance proactive media generation with managing inbound media enquiries and providing thoughtful media engagement appropriate for a regulated business.
- Partner closely with senior analytical leaders to help develop:
- Clear media messaging around sovereign ratings
- Macro-economic trends
- Emerging credit risks (including delivery of media training)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with priority capital markets, economic, and regional media across EMEA and identify and develop engagement with relevant influencer communities.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of media reporting and analytics which showcase the Communications team’s business value proposition and how it delivers against Fitch’s strategic and commercial objectives.
- Contribute to the continued evolution of Fitch’s Communications team and ways of working for a modern in-house team.

You May Be a Good Fit If:
- 5-10 years’ experience in corporate communications ideally within financial services, capital markets, or similar.
- Proactive, creative, and solutions-focused in approach.
- Agency experience is desirable.
- Experience operating in regulated or reputation-sensitive environments, with strong judgement around messaging and external issues management.
- Proven success developing and executing proactive earned media strategies that deliver visibility, reputational impact, and commercial relevance across different media platforms.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and diplomacy, with the ability to:
- Build credibility
- Manage expectations
- Influence effectively across a range of senior internal and external audiences.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working at pace, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating effectively in a matrixed global organisation.
