Associate Director/Director of Sales Operations

About the Role

The Associate Director/Director of Sales Operations has a primary focus on supporting business objectives of revenue growth through the development and execution of sales strategies, processes, and programs. When done effectively, this results in:

  • Strong sales performance built upon client retention and new business growth
  • Improved seller productivity
  • Lowered attrition

This requires:

  • Planning and development activities such as program design
  • Process improvement
  • Launching new sales technologies
  • Coaching and collaborating with Sellers and Partners across Gartner

What You Will Do

  • Support the ELE Continental VP with sales strategy, programs, and execution
  • Collaborate with other Continental Ops leaders to align, share, and implement best practices
  • Oversee the reporting and analysis of business results and forecasts
  • Develop monthly operational presentations capturing:
    • Sales performance
    • Causals
    • Leading/lagging indicators
    • Processes/programs
    • Insights into business operations
  • Partner with Business Leader(s) to:
    • Analyze or diagnose gaps/opportunities
    • Identify potential or selected solutions
  • Refine and deploy world-class sales processes and programs:
    • Examples include growth programs, retention programs, conference execution, and LoB (Product, Research, Territories) initiatives
    • Capture and analyze impact and ROI to target future enhancements
  • Mentor and coach MVPs, RVPs, and SMs effectively
  • Lead preparation and development of meeting materials for presentations
  • Represent the sales channel in key leadership meetings
  • Work with partners across the business to execute strategic decisions (e.g., Product, Delivery, BTI, Conferences, Marketing)
  • Utilize a curious personality to root out and solve issues
  • Work cross-functionally to remove barriers to seller productivity
  • Model, allocate, and track results against budgets and quotas

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years business experience, OR
    • 5+ years of consulting, project management, or operationally equivalent work
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing analytically rigorous and time-bound initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to:
    • Adjust styles for diverse audiences
    • Translate large-scale data or complex issues for executive audiences
  • Exceptional presentation-building skills:
    • Keen eye for detail and storytelling
    • Ability to develop strong credibility with Sales and become a respected coach/advisor
    • Comfort speaking to large groups
  • Proven ability to:
    • Understand business initiatives and challenges
    • Interpret questions/requests, identify root causes, and return additional insights
  • Highly developed sense of curiosity with a relentless drive for answers
  • Strong influence and trust-building capabilities at senior levels
  • Ability to:
    • Manage critical deadlines
    • Collaborate under tight timelines
  • Institutional knowledge and/or strong understanding of Gartner BUs and functions preferred
