What You Will Be Doing
Tyler Grange are seeking to recruit a dynamic, commercial and operational Team Lead for our Birmingham Ecology team, encompassing our Birmingham office and working closely with our Northern Ecology team in Manchester and Leeds.
You will work closely and collaboratively with the Operational Leads for Manchester and Leeds, the South West and London , under the leadership of the Regional Ecology Directors for the North and South. You’ll also work alongside technical leads and wider business functions to deliver the Ecology strategy.
This role suits someone with excellent communication and people management skills, strong attention to detail, and who thrives in a fast‑paced, supportive and fun working environment. A proven track record in the ecology or planning industry, with experience in leadership, team management, pipeline review and an interest in sales and business development, will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities
Work with the Regional Ecology Director (North) to deliver targets for the Birmingham Ecology team as part of the annual Ecology Strategy and wider TG business strategy. Support the Northern Ecology team in analysing operational data, including pipeline, opportunities and sales actions. Collaborate with the Regional Ecology Director (North) on HR decision‑making (in liaison with the TG HR Lead), recruitment, and partner (subcontractor) use. Work closely with the central resource coordination team to ensure efficient delivery of workload across the working area. Partner with Technical Leads to ensure appropriate technical support is in place, identifying strategies to address skills gaps and regional requirements. Complete the monthly Operations Report for the Birmingham Ecology team. Work collaboratively with other office operational leads to problem‑solve and support project and pipeline delivery. Work with regional sales representatives to ensure sales actions align to the wider sales strategy and the Birmingham Ecology team’s operational and technical needs. Provide project support as both Project Manager and Project Director, helping to mentor and support junior project managers on large or complex projects.
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
Can act as a proactive leader for the Birmingham Ecology team and mentor project managers across Ecology. Is a confident communicator who embodies our values: Honesty, Caring, Belonging, Opportunity and Enjoyment. Holds an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences. Has excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data, identify solutions and review written work to a high standard. Demonstrates strong understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework relevant to our industry. Is enthusiastic, engaging and able to build positive relationships with peers, contacts and clients. Shows a commitment to excellence, including innovating how we deliver for clients and exploring new sectors. Is a full member of CIEEM, or a Chartered Ecologist / working toward Chartership. Holds a full UK driving licence.

Salary
Tyler Grange operates a transparent pay structure with fixed pay points within each grade.
Salary will depend on experience and suitability for the role, aligned to the Associate pay points:
Associate A: £55,960 Associate B: £60,000
These pay points reflect our 2026 salary banding. All pay points are reviewed annually (next review: December 2026) to consider inflation and other relevant changes.
Movement between pay points is possible by demonstrating progression against targets at our twice‑annual reviews (Spring and Autumn).
