Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world’s most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering bespoke services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

Global Debt Advisory

Global Debt Advisory is a team within Global Banking that develops tailored solutions for Santander clients in the areas of financial strategy and credit ratings.

Financial Strategy Advisory

  • Assist clients in evaluating and implementing strategic financing, including:
    • Optimal capital structure choices
    • Funding optimisation strategies
    • Financial policy formulation
    • Debt capacity aligned with strategic goals

Rating Advisory

  • Provide expertise on credit ratings and relationships with the major rating agencies, including:
    • Obtaining first-time ratings
    • Assessing ideal rating agency relationships
    • Advising on potential rating implications of corporate events, methodology changes, and methodology changes
    • Formulating financial policies for rating purposes

The Difference You’ll Make

  • Strengthen client relationships with financial institutions by engaging in strategic credit rating and capital structure dialogue
  • Conduct credit rating assessments for rated and unrated clients, including banks, insurers, and NBFIs (using S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch methodologies)
  • Collaborate with CIB product teams to design financing solutions for clients
  • Prepare and present rating and capital structure material during client pitches

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Previous experience in credit rating analysis from:
    • One of the three main credit rating agencies
    • A rating advisory role within a major investment bank
  • Degree, or equivalent, in a numerical discipline (e.g., finance, economics, mathematics)
  • Completion of the following CISI modules within six months of joining:
    • Corporate Finance
    • Regulatory
  • Analytical mindset with proficient use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in Dvodformed ad-hoc teams across functions and geographic locations (Europe, North America, and Latin America)

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with capital market and treasury products
  • Wider linguistic capabilities

Role Location

Based at our Triton Square, London office, conveniently near Warren Street and Euston.
