Global Debt Advisory – Rating and Capital Structure Analyst
Location: Triton Square, London (near Warren Street & Euston)
About the Role
Santander Corporate & Investment Banking’s (SCIB) Global Debt Advisory team within Global Banking supports some of the world’s most complex corporate and institutional clients across credit ratings, financial strategy, and capital structure solutions. Our Financial Strategy Advisory focuses on optimising capital structure, funding strategies, and policy formulation, while our Rating Advisory assists clients in managing credit ratings, agency relationships, and financial policies.
The team strives to enhance client relationships through strategic dialogue on credit ratings and financing solutions, collaborating with other CIB product teams to design bespoked solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Improve client relationships with financial institutions concerning credit ratings and capital structure issues.
- Support credit rating assessments for rated/unrated banks, insurers, NBFIs, and other segments using S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch methodologies.
- Engage with other CIB product teams to develop client financing solutions.
- Prepare and present rating and capital structure materials at investor pitches.
What We Need From You
Essential Requirements
- Hands-on experience in credit rating analysis, either from:
- One of the big three rating agencies (S&P, Moody’s, Fitch, or equivalent).
- A rating advisory role in a major investment bank.
- A degree (or equivalent) in a numerical discipline (finance, economics, mathematics, actuarial sciences, etc.).
- Completion of the following qualifications within the first six months:
- CISI Corporate Finance Module
- CISI Regulatory Module
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (advanced formats encouraged).
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in small, cross-functional teams across Europe, North America, and LatAm.
