About the Team

Our authorised funds team is a Tier 1 leader in the financial services sector, noted for its deep sector expertise and regulatory authority.

  • Ranked Tier 1 for retail funds by the Legal 500, praised as a "leading UK funds practice" with standout advice for fund service providers.
  • Rated Band 1 for open-ended funds UK-wide by Chambers, described as “a clear market leader in the open-ended funds space.”
  • Leaders in regulatory and tax interpretation, shaping innovations in the fund management industry for decades.

Key Areas of Expertise:

  • Authorised and retail funds, including:
    • UCITS and non-UCITS retail schemes (NURS)
    • OEICs, Authorised Unit Trusts
    • Property Authorised Investment Funds (PAIFs)
    • Authorised Contractual Schemes (ACS)
    • Charity Authorised Investment Funds
    • Long-Term Asset Funds (LTAFs)
  • SDR and OFR recognition for funds
  • Fund structuring, tax, and regulatory compliance
  • Investment strategies and asset transfers
  • Collaboration with asset managers and depositories on regulatory compliance
  • Scooping advisory work for household-name clients in the sector.

Role: Senior Associate – Authorised Funds

We seek a Highflyer, a rapid learner, and hands-on strategy mind to join our examples team in London. You’ll help shape advice, collaborate on joint cases and projects, and engage deeply with principled client relationships across asset managers, fund houses, depositaries, private wealth firms, and international investors (public and private).

Core Responsibilities

Client advisory and advocacy:

  • Serve as co-lead or core advisor for fiducies to formulate coverage on authorised/selling funds, including:
    • Structuring new funds under FCA jurisdiction
    • Post-authorisation regulatory compliance
    • Negotiating investment management, custody, and administration agreements
    • Alternative asset advories (e.g., property or private equity funds)
  • Support client-side investors in structuring deals.

Technical Scope:

  • Manage UCITS, OEICs, AIFs, and Charity AIFs under UK/EU frameworks.
  • Guide fund launches, including LTAFs (Long-Term Asset Funds) and securing compliance for SDR and OFR labels.
  • Initiative FCA regulatory obligations and contractual obligations (e.g. AIFMD, PRIIP, MiFID).

AI and tech integration:

  • Learn and deploy Harvey (generative AI assistant), alongside broader tools (MS Copilot, Lexis Protégé) for:
    • Contract/leading-phased artificial intelligence
    • Clute/aggr fisadal (artificial intelligence) intel and insights

Teaming and professional growth:

  • Constant co-own collaborative work—owning ancillary assets for clients (e.g. deadlines, reviews) and cross-disvalidate standards with internal teams.
  • Secondments opportunities—additional lens and perspective

Key Requirements

We’re looking for mid-level associates (0-3 years PQE) with unfettered ambition, hands-on expertise, and eagerness to move into fund asset management. Relevant business development into financial services either in the UK or EU preferred. Successful transfers will likely:

  • Suit excellence in client interaction (building deep and durable trust).
  • Balance commercial sensibility with technical precision.
  • Manage heavy workloads without wilting—multitasking where demand interferes.
  • Take ownership of innovation projects to loalize heavy knowledge.
  • Apply technical gravidity and judgment skills across broad areas (e.g., financial products, regulatory regimes, technology).
  • Commit to forecasting legal progress, expanding tools (AI/tech), and collaborating in risk-landscapes.
  • Find joy in high-caliber work with internal and global outreach.
