The Opportunity
You’re an Associate Fire Engineer who wants to lead—on projects, with clients, and within a growing team. At Stantec, you’ll join an expanding Fire Engineering capability within our Buildings business, working across a national platform from any of our UK offices. This is a role where you’ll combine technical depth with leadership, shaping how fire engineering is delivered across a multidisciplinary environment and contributing to the continued growth of the service.
About The Role
You will lead the delivery of fire engineering strategies across a diverse portfolio of projects, from concept through to construction and handover. This includes both performance-based and code-compliant design, ensuring solutions are practical, coordinated, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
- You’ll act as a technical authority on projects—guiding design teams, overseeing modelling inputs, and ensuring quality across outputs.
- You’ll work closely with internal specialists and other disciplines, integrating fire engineering into wider project delivery.
- Alongside technical leadership, you’ll take ownership of client relationships—leading meetings, advising on strategy, and supporting successful project outcomes.
- You’ll also contribute to business development, supporting bids and identifying opportunities to expand the service offering.
Internally, you’ll play a key role in developing people—mentoring engineers, contributing to technical standards, and supporting a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
YOUR IMPACT
You’ll influence how complex buildings are designed and delivered, helping clients navigate fire safety requirements with solutions that are both technically robust and practical to implement. Your work will directly contribute to safer, more resilient buildings across multiple sectors.
Beyond project delivery, your impact will extend to team growth and capability. You’ll support the development of engineers, strengthen technical standards, and contribute to the continued expansion of fire engineering within the business. Your role will shape both how projects are delivered and how the team evolves.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
