About the Role

Olive Tree Consulting works at the gap between strategy and execution. Sometimes the best way to bridge that gap is through a shared digital workspace or a simple tool that tracks decisions and ownership. As an entry-level member of our engineering team, you will work closely with our consultants to turn their management frameworks into useful, browser-based tools. You will ensure that the visual side of our projects remains as easy to use as the advice we provide. The work is less about high-churn consumer features and more about building reliable interfaces that make complex organizational data easy to read and manage.

What You Will Do

  • Write clean and maintainable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build out new features for internal advisory tools.
  • Collaborate with the consulting team to understand how our London-based client needs to manage their decision-making process.
  • Build responsive layouts that prioritize readability and ease of use over visual complexity.
  • Participate in code reviews with other engineers to learn best practices and maintain internal standards.
  • Help maintain and document a small library of reusable UI components to keep our tools consistent.
  • Test interfaces across different browsers to ensure a reliable experience for every member of the client team.
  • Translate simple wireframes and written notes into functional front-end code that solves specific problems.
  • Identify and fix small bugs or layout issues to ensure our digital tools remain polished and professional.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For

  • A foundational understanding of modern JavaScript and at least one frontend framework, such as React or Vue.
  • Strong skills in CSS, including a solid grasp of layout techniques like Flexbox or Grid.
  • A clear writing style, as much of our internal coordination happens in writing across a remote team.
  • A preference for simplicity and an ability to see your work through the eyes of the person using the tool.
  • Willingness to ask questions and seek feedback early when you are unsure about a requirement.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying connected to the team via written updates.
  • Attention to detail when it comes to the small things, like consistent spacing and legible fonts.

Helpful Background

  • Completion of a computer science degree, a coding bootcamp, or similar self-directed technical study.
  • Experience using version control tools like Git for personal or academic projects.
  • A portfolio or GitHub profile showing small projects that demonstrate an interest in building for the web.
  • A basic understanding of web accessibility and why it is important for functional, professional tools.
  • Previous experience in a role that required clear communication or solving problems for others.

What We Offer

This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive and attractive salary for the current market. The position is entirely remote, allowing you to work from the environment where you are most productive. You will have the chance to work on meaningful projects that solve real organizational problems for important clients. We provide a professional environment where technical growth is supported and clear, thoughtful communication is the standard for everyone on the team.

About Olive Tree

Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems; they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company's growth.

We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own.

The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
