Associate Geotechnical Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid Working) Salary: Up to £70,000 + Benefits Region: UK – London
A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join its London team. This is an opportunity to take a leading role within a respected ground engineering team, working on a broad range of projects across the built environment.
The consultancy delivers engineering and environmental services across sectors including:
- Residential
- Commercial
- Education
- Healthcare
- Regeneration
- Infrastructure
With a strong focus on technical quality, collaboration, and sustainable design.
The Role
As an Associate Geotechnical Engineer, you will:
- Lead the delivery of geotechnical projects from initial investigation through to detailed design and construction support.
- Work closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines.
- Help develop junior team members.
- Strengthen existing client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Managing geotechnical and geo-environmental projects.
- Designing and supervising ground investigations.
- Producing interpretative reports and geotechnical assessments.
- Undertaking:
- Foundation assessments
- Retaining wall assessments
- Earthworks assessments
- Slope stability assessments
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.
- Managing project:
- Programmes
- Budgets
- Resources
- Liaising directly with:
- Clients
- Contractors
- Project teams
- Supporting business development and identifying new opportunities.
- Contributing to the growth of the geotechnical team.

Requirements
- Degree-qualified in:
- Civil Engineering, or
- Engineering Geology, or
- A related discipline.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with:
- ICE
- The Geological Society, or
- Equivalent.
- Strong consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering.
- Experience delivering projects across a variety of development sectors.
- Excellent:
- Technical reporting skills
- Analytical skills
- Previous experience managing projects and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong:
- Communication skills
- Client-facing abilities
- Commercial awareness and the ability to develop client relationships.
