We’re looking for an Associate Health Economist
Future Care Capital is expanding its network of Associates and is looking for an experienced health economist to support our work across health and care.
The successful individual will contribute across our impact evaluation, innovation management, and impact investment programmes, helping organisations understand not only whether an initiative works, but whether it represents good value, can be implemented sustainably, and has a credible case for adoption, scaling, or investment.
We’re looking for someone with experience of applying health economics in real-world health or social care settings. Depending on the project, the work might include:
- Designing and delivering economic components of evaluations
- Cost-effectiveness, cost-consequence, cost–benefit, or budget-impact analysis
- Developing economic models and assessing uncertainty
- Supporting business cases for the adoption and scaling of innovations
- Assessing affordability, sustainability, and potential return on investment
- Contributing economic insight to investment appraisal and due diligence
- Communicating complex economic findings clearly to decision-makers, practitioners, investors, and the public

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You should be able to work independently to a high standard while contributing collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams. Strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the ability to take a pragmatic approach when working with the imperfect data and evolving interventions often encountered in real-world health and care projects.
