The Team
The Warehouse Lending (WHL) team serves as the core of HSBC Innovation Banking’s Structured Finance platform, offering customised asset-backed debt facilities to high-growth fintechs and non-bank lenders across the UK and Europe. We seek a commercially astute and technically strong Associate to support portfolio management and deal execution.
Ideal candidate traits:
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Strong deal execution and client engagement skills
- Exposure to diverse roles in investment banking, rating agencies, or commercial banks

What You’ll Contribute
You’ll bridge portfolio management and transaction execution, taking ownership of key responsibilities while driving relationships with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
Core responsibilities include:

Portfolio Management:
- Reviewing awaver/amendment requests for accuracy
- Tracking credit renewals and monitoring financial/compliance fulfilment
- Coordinating transaction updates and preparing audit responses

Portfolio Monitoring:
- Overseeing financial reporting (via company net worth, portfolio tools, and bank accounts)
- Ensuring geopolitical risks—economic health, life stages, and geographical factors—are accounted for

Client Advocacy & Deal Execution:
- Liaising with operations teams, clients, and prospective partners to align drawdowns, payments, and monthly reporting.
- Developing and presenting portfolio review materials (analysis and presentations)

Process Enhancement:
- Collaborating on policy and operating procedure development alongside business risk, credit teams, and process enablement

- Transaction Support:
- Conducting due diligence and coordinating engagements, including structuring talks and thought leadership contributions.
- Supporting credit analysis, financial models, term sheet drafting, and facility drafts.
Requirements
Recommended background/experience:
- Experience in structured finance, particularly within investment banks, asset managers, or rating agencies
- Familiarity with venture capital, private equity, and fintech
- Understanding of portfolio management best practices
Critical skills & qualities:
- Exceptional credit risk insight and stakeholder management
- Comfortability working in fast-accelerated modes with bold outreach
- Reliable organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities
