About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Associate to join the Infrastructure Coverage team in London. The role supports the UK Infrastructure Coverage team and the Global Head of Infrastructure Coverage in managing relationships with leading infrastructure investors globally, driving origination efforts and coordinating opportunities across sector, product, and regional teams.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing client relationships, identifying strategic opportunities, supporting M&A and financing transactions, and managing internal coordination across multiple business lines. The role offers exposure to infrastructure investors active across Infrastructure, Power, Transport, TMT, and Healthcare sectors worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with infrastructure, project finance, M&A, or corporate banking experience who is looking to deepen their exposure to global infrastructure clients and transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Client Coverage & Relationship Management (35%)

  • Support the development and execution of the Bank's infrastructure investor coverage strategy across key global client relationships.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Maintain regular interaction with infrastructure investors and support senior bankers in managing strategic client relationships.
    • Coordinate coverage activities across product, sector, and geographic teams to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach.
    • Prepare client briefing materials, account plans, meeting materials, and relationship updates.
    • Support senior management in planning and executing client engagement strategies.
    • Monitor client activity, investment priorities, fundraising developments, and strategic initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, opportunities, and relationship developments within the Bank's CRM systems.
    • Contribute to the overall coverage strategy for infrastructure investors across multiple regions.

Origination & M&A Opportunity Development (30%)

  • Take an active role in identifying and developing strategic opportunities with infrastructure investors.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Identify and track buy-side and sell-side M&A opportunities involving infrastructure funds, pension funds, sovereign investors, and strategic investors.
    • Monitor market developments and investment activity across key infrastructure sectors.
    • Support the development of strategic ideas and client opportunities.
    • Contribute to the preparation of pitches for acquisitions, disposals, capital raising, and financing opportunities.
    • Assist in developing sell-side opportunities involving infrastructure assets and portfolios.
    • Coordinate inputs from sector teams, advisory teams, and regional teams to develop integrated client solutions.
    • Maintain live opportunity pipelines and support transaction tracking and reporting.

Transaction Coordination & Internal Business Development (20%)

  • Act as a central coordination point between Infrastructure Coverage and key internal stakeholders.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Coordinate closely with sector teams including:
      • Power & Utilities
      • Oil & Gas
      • TMT
      • Rail
      • Aviation
      • Shipping
      • Healthcare
      • Real Estate
    • Partner with M&A teams, Structured Finance Advisory teams, and regional coverage teams to identify opportunities at an early stage.
    • Work with teams across North America, Asia-Pacific, Australia, and Latin America to support global client activity.
    • Assist in maintaining and updating the team's live deal pipeline and opportunity tracker.
    • Support management reporting and business planning initiatives.

Credit, Risk & Portfolio Management (10%)

  • Support credit-related processes and the management of infrastructure investor exposures.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Assist with the preparation and coordination of credit applications and approval materials.
    • Coordinate with financing, risk, and legal teams regarding:
      • Revolving credit facilities
      • Equity bridge facilities
      • FX facilities
      • Hedging and derivative solutions
    • Monitor both direct and indirect exposure to infrastructure investors.
    • Assist with KYC requirements and ongoing client reviews.
    • Support regular portfolio reporting to management and internal committees.

Business Management, CRM & Reporting (5%)

  • Responsibilities include:
    • Maintain accurate data within the Bank's CRM platforms.
    • Monitor and report on key client metrics including:
      • Revenue generation
      • New business initiatives
      • Profitability
      • Risk-weighted assets
      • Liquidity usage
    • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities.
    • Prepare management presentations and reporting materials.
    • Ensure data quality and consistency across internal reporting systems.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree from a leading university in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong academic track record.

Preferred

  • CFA qualification or progress towards CFA.
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Accounting qualification or relevant financial certification.

Experience

  • Essential

    • 3–6 years' experience within:
      • Investment Banking
      • Corporate Banking
      • Infrastructure Finance
      • Project Finance
      • M&A Advisory
      • Infrastructure Funds or Private Equity
    • Experience working on infrastructure-related transactions or client coverage activities.
    • Strong understanding of infrastructure investors and infrastructure markets.
  • Preferred

    • Exposure to M&A transactions, structured finance, or project finance.
    • Experience working across multiple infrastructure sectors and geographies.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial statement analysis.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure financing structures and transaction processes.
  • Familiarity with credit analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
