Associate – Insurance/Regulatory

MRA Search is partnering exclusively with Conyers in their search for an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer to join its growing Tier 1 Insurance and Reinsurance Group, part of our wider Corporate Department, in the Cayman Islands. The Group has extensive experience advising a wide range of the largest international financial and insurance institutions globally on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance law and regulation.

Conyers is the only law firm ranked Tier 1 for Insurance and Reinsurance in both of the leading international domiciles for this business, being Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. Both practices are constituent parts of a multi-jurisdictional insurance practice so you can also expect to work closely with colleagues in our Bermuda office as part of providing a seamless client experience on multi-jurisdictional matters.

What Will You Do

  • Advise leading global insurance and reinsurance companies and captives, on cross-border transactions and regulatory matters, gaining direct exposure to the most sophisticated work in the offshore insurance market
  • Guide clients through the full lifecycle of (re)insurer formation and licensing, from initial structuring and applications through to ongoing regulatory compliance with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), including advising on ongoing compliance advisory mandates, regulatory filings and notifications, change‑of‑control and controller approvals, corporate governance reviews, and CIMA inspections
  • Provide strategic counsel on a wide range of corporate governance, regulatory, and compliance matters, developing deep expertise in an area of law that is constantly evolving
  • Collaborate closely with partners and senior associates who are committed to your professional development, receiving hands-on mentorship and meaningful feedback
  • Work on novel and first-of-their-kind matters in a jurisdiction at the forefront of global insurance regulation, helping to shape market practice and legal precedent
  • Engage directly with clients from day one, building lasting relationships with in-house legal teams and insurance managers in the Cayman Islands
  • Contribute to multi-jurisdictional matters alongside colleagues in our Bermuda office, broadening your perspective and skill set across two of the world's premier offshore insurance domiciles
  • Participate in business development initiatives, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities
  • Contribute to know‑how, client alerts, training and business development initiatives that reinforce the firm’s market‑leading regulatory practice, while mentoring more junior team members.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
