Eclipse (Eclipse Power Networks Ltd) is an OFGEM-licenced Electricity Independent Distribution Network Operator operating within the UK energy industry. We design, own, operate, and maintain extra high, high, and low voltage electricity distribution networks, providing critical power connections to residential, industrial, renewable, and commercial customers across the UK.

Job Purpose
This is a hands-on, in-house, broad-based legal role where you’ll work directly alongside our business—not siloed—collaborating across commercial contracts, regulatory challenges, projects, and day-to-day legal issues. You’ll support teams to move quickly and confidently while making informed, strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Contracts & Negotiation:
- Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements (EPC contracts, asset adoption agreements, frameworks, NDAs, consultancy agreements, and more).
- Spotting risks and helping teams navigate them effectively.

Project Collaboration:
- Partnering with commercial, technical, and finance teams to structure and deliver projects.
- Translating legal complexity into clear, practical advice that drives business decisions.

Growth & Expansion Support:
- Assisting with new platforms, partnerships, and growth initiatives.
- Deep involvement in transactions, joint ventures (JVs), and strategic deals.

- Supporting regulatory and compliance issues, particularly within UK energy (e.g., Ofgem).
- Ensuring governance and approval processes remain streamlined but thorough.

- Being the go-to resource for legal queries—from quick contract questions to governance and approvals.
- Building Templates, playbooks, and smarter processes to reduce legal bottlenecks and strengthen cross-functional collaboration.

Essential Experience
- Qualification: Lawyer qualified in England & Wales (or equivalent), with 2–6 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Background: Private practice and/or in-house experience.
- Contract Expertise: Proven commercial contracts experience.
- Commercial Mindset: Strong focus on practical outcomes-driven advisory.
- Resilience: Ability to manage multiple deadlines and balance competing priorities.
- Problem-solving: Proactive approach to identifying and recommending solutions.
- Collaborative Mindset: Comfort working directly with non-legal stakeholders (e.g., engineers, commercial, and finance).
- Clarity & Communication: Sharpen skills to explain legal complexities to diverse teams.
