Associate - M&A Team

Overview

Jefferies is seeking a highly motivated Associate to join its Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team in London. The role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of high-profile, cross-border transactions across multiple sectors, advising corporates, private equity firms, and financial sponsors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in deal execution while supporting senior bankers in originating new business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute M&A transactions, including buy-side and sell-side mandates, strategic advisory, and defence assignments
  • Lead the preparation of financial models (DCF, LBO, trading comps, transaction comps) and valuation analyses
  • Develop and review high-quality client materials, including pitch books, IMs, management presentations, and board materials
  • Coordinate due diligence processes and manage data rooms, advisors, and client interactions
  • Support senior bankers in client relationship management and business development efforts
  • Supervise and mentor Analysts, ensuring accuracy and quality of deliverables
  • Stay abreast of market developments, sector trends, and comparable transactions

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant investment banking experience, ideally within an M&A team at a top-tier bank or advisory firm
  • Strong technical skills, with advanced proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple workstreams across live transactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
