The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join a leading global engineering consultancy’s expanding Data Centre and Mission Critical team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to take ownership of complex, technically challenging projects while developing towards future leadership positions.

You will play a key role in delivering some of the most advanced data centre developments across the UK and internationally, working with major hyperscale, colocation, technology, and enterprise clients. The role offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, influence design strategy, manage client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of a market-leading data centre engineering business.

The Role

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading mechanical engineering delivery across major data centre projects, from initial concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction, testing, and commissioning. You will provide technical leadership, manage engineering teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality mechanical solutions for mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the mechanical design of complex data centre projects through all project stages, including concept design, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical leadership and design management across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Manage and mentor junior and intermediate mechanical engineers, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Take ownership of mechanical design packages, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially effective, and delivered to the highest standards.
  • Act as a key technical representative in discussions with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, programme management, progress reporting, and delivery performance.
  • Contribute to project financial performance alongside senior project leadership.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, supporting long-term business growth.
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and technical forums.
  • Travel to project locations when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
