Company Description:

STEPS & STRIDES Occupational Therapy provides specialist, client-centered occupational therapy services for children and young people. The team focuses on supporting participation, confidence, and independence across home, school, and community settings. Services are delivered using a neuro-affirming, strengths-based approach that values each individual’s unique abilities and needs. The practice collaborates closely with families, educators, and other professionals to create practical, meaningful interventions. STEPS & STRIDES is committed to inclusive, empowering care that helps children and young people thrive in their everyday environments.

Role Description:

The Associate Occupational Therapist will deliver assessment and intervention for children in an on-site setting in London and surrounds.

  • Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting functional assessments, developing and implementing individualized therapy programmes, and supporting participation in daily activities across home and school contexts.
  • The role involves documenting clinical findings, maintaining accurate records and communicating recommendations to families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams in a clear and collaborative manner.
  • The therapist will apply a neuro-affirming, strengths-based approach, contribute to service planning, and participate in team meetings and case discussions.
  • This is a contract role that requires consistent on-site presence and a commitment to high-quality, client-centered practice.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the relevant UK regulatory body (e.g., HCPC or equivalent).
  • Experience providing occupational therapy to children in clinical, educational or community settings.
  • Strong skills in assessment, therapy planning, and delivery of evidence-informed interventions for functional, sensory and developmental needs.
  • Ability to work within a neuro-affirming, strengths-based, and client-centered framework, respecting diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams, including clear report writing.
  • Organisational and time-management skills to manage caseloads, maintain documentation, and meet service timelines.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical and safeguarding standards.
