The Major Injury & Casualty team at DWF are currently hiring for a Solicitor or Associate to join the Casualty team in Scotland. The Major Injury & Casualty Team are nationally recognised and one of the largest in the UK. We act for a number of well-known insurer clients and provide high quality advice on a wide range of matters that are of significant value, resulting in an interesting and rewarding set of cases for you to work on. The team handle a range of defendant personal injury matters including Employers Liability (EL) / Public Liability (PL) matters, Disease as well as related pre-litigation investigations. This is a hybrid role, with minimum 2 days required in the Glasgow or Edinburgh office each week.

Responsibilities

  • Handle your own caseload, whilst also providing some support to more senior team members.
  • Drafting court documents, attending court hearings, working to court deadlines.
  • Conducting liability investigations, gathering evidence, preparing advice to clients, identifying medical experts and preparing instructions.
  • Reviewing medical records and other case related documents.
  • Providing the highest level of client care at all times.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential:

  • A Scottish qualified Solicitor or Associate. We will also consider Scottish qualified NQ Solicitors with the right background and experience.
  • Previous experience handling in your own right or supporting a senior team member with a litigated, defendant Casualty caseload, preferably with Disease and/or EL/PL background.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, whilst working to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to quickly and carefully analyse files and sensitive data.
  • Computer literate including proficient use of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
