Based in the heart of central Motherwell, Motherwell Foot Clinic is a community-focused podiatric practice with an established patient base. We specialise in delivering high-quality, evidence-based podiatric care, emphasising patient education and compassionate support.
Our services include:
- Assessment and diagnosis of foot and lower limb conditions
- Routine and high-risk foot care
- Biomechanical analysis and orthotic prescription/review
- Management of long-term conditions, particularly diabetes-related foot complications
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary care to ensure safe, effective, and accessible treatment

Associate Podiatrist – Community-Based Role
Contract Type: Self-employed | Hours: Flexible (part-time or full-time) Location: Motherwell Foot Clinic, central town base
Responsibilities
The Associate Podiatrist will work independently to provide comprehensive podiatric assessments and treatment plans for a diverse patient population, including those with diabetes and other complex lower limb issues. Key duties include:

- Conducting full podiatric history, physical examination, and diagnosis of foot and lower limb conditions
- Delivering routine foot care services and high-risk treatment, including for diabetic patients
- Prescribing, fitting, and reviewing orthotic devices based on biomechanical analysis and patient needs
- Developing and implementing individualised care plans, ensuring evidence-based intervention and adherence to clinical guidelines
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and electronic records
- Engaging in multidisciplinary discussions with other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care
- Promoting patient education on foot health, preventive measures, and self-care strategies
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on patient outcomes
- Supporting service development within the practice and contributing to quality improvement initiatives
- Participating in ongoing continuing professional development (CPD)
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must possess the following:

- Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Podiatry or a recognised overseas equivalent
- Registration: Current HCPC registration as a podiatrist
- Clinical Expertise:
- Experience assessing, diagnosing, and managing a range of foot and lower limb conditions
- Knowledge of biomechanics, gait analysis, and orthotic prescription and review
- Specialist experience in diabetes-related foot care, including risk assessment, prevention, and management (essential)
- Skills:
- Strong clinical reasoning skills with meticulous attention to detail in documentation
- Proven experience in infection control and adherence to relevant protocols
- Effective communication skills to engage with diverse patients and collaborate within a team
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and professional development
- Attitude:
- Highly motivated, compassionate, and capable of working independently and autonomously
- Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical needs and contribute to practice development
- Desire to participate in continuing professional development
