About the Team

The Private Client Advisory Team forms part of the wider Private Client Division. This team acts as trusted advisors to:

  • Individuals, families, trustees, and owner-managed businesses (UK and international).
  • Companies managing family or trust assets.

The team prides itself on long-term relationships, providing practical, bespoke advice on:

  • Tax matters
  • Trust and estate planning
  • Legal documentations

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Associate, you will:

  • Draft and negotiate legal documents, including contracts, Wills, trust documents, LPAs (Lasting Power of Attorney), deeds, advice notes, letters, and correspondence, tailored to the client’s unique needs.
  • Provide taxation and succession planning advice, particularly for high-net-worth clients with mixed relievable/non-relievable assets.
  • Manage estate administration processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and identifying commercial opportunities.
  • Participate in marketing and networking initiatives to expand the firm’s reach.
  • Ensure personal financial accountability, demonstrating a mindset aligned with commercial success.

What We Are Looking For

Birketts operates a "Talent Management Framework" to cultivate and reward expertise. This role expects applicants with 3–6 years of Post-Qualifying Experience (PQE) as a startingPOINT.

Key Requirements

  • Commercial & Legal Judgement: Leverage strong legal acumen and demonstrate effective precedent research. Draft complex documents guided by senior partners.
  • Time Management: Efficiently handle time recording, billing, and workload to meet financial targets, ensuring optimal fee recovery.
  • Client Service Excellence: Provide high-quality legal support with minimal supervision, offering timely, precise advice that reflects client priorities.

  • Professional Standards:
    • Excel in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, digital dictation, time/billing software, and case management tools.

    • Embrace feedback with a "can-do" spirit, maintaining collaborative communication and a proactive mindset.
    • Consistently meet compliance deadlines, including mandatory training and risk management protocols.

Hybrid Work Model

Birketts adopts a hybrid working model, offering a 60% remote (home), 40% office split.

During your 6-month probation period, you will work full-time in the office to support your role integration.
