Associate – Private Client & Trust
MRA Search is partnering exclusively with Conyers in their search for an ambitious and enthusiastic lawyer to join its leading Private Client & Trust practice in the Cayman Islands.
The Private Client team has extensive experience advising a wide range of trustees, fiduciaries, family offices and UHNW and HNWIs globally on all aspects of private client, estate administration, trust structuring and regulation, including trust and estate disputes.
Conyers is highly ranked for Private Client & Trust in the leading international directories. The practice is a constituent part of Conyers’ multi-jurisdictional Private Client group so you can also expect to work closely with colleagues in our Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Asia offices as part of providing a seamless client experience on multi-jurisdictional matters.
What Will You Do
- Advise trust companies, fiduciaries and UHNW / HNWI’s and their family offices on a wide range of private wealth work, including the establishment, restructuring and administration of trust structures, estate and succession planning and regulatory matters.
- Provide strategic counsel on a wide range of trust administration and governance matters, developing deep expertise in an area of law that is constantly evolving.
- Advise on trust and estate dispute matters, including court applications for directions, Beddoe relief, variation, fiduciary mistake and rectification, as well as grants of representation (probate).
- Collaborate closely with partners and senior associates who are committed to your professional development, receiving hands-on mentorship and meaningful feedback.
- Work on complex and cross-border private client matters in a well-regarded and sophisticated trust jurisdiction, helping to shape market practice and legal precedent.
- Engage directly with clients from day one, building lasting relationships with in-house and onshore legal teams, family offices and trust companies in the Cayman Islands and globally.
- Contribute to multi-jurisdictional matters alongside colleagues in Conyers’ global offices and affiliated corporate service and trustee companies.
- Participate in business development initiatives, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities
- Contribute to know-how, client alerts, training and business development initiatives that reinforce the firm’s market-leading Private Client practice.

What You’ll Need
- 5 - 7 years’ relevant PQE, with prior experience in private client and trust work (contentious and / or non-contentious) in a recognised legal practice.
- Admitted, or eligible to be admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar (this means candidates who are admitted in Cayman, Australia, New Zealand, England & Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, BVI (Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court) or Bermuda).
- Strong academics
- Excellent technical and drafting skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Outgoing personality with an interest in business development
