Associate Product Owner

Asylum Accommodation and Support Services (AASC)
Location: Home Based with travel across various sites
Full Time, FTC (12 Months)
Band 4 / £45,000-£46,000

Overview

At Serco, we believe that every person deserves safety, dignity, and support. Through our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract, we help ensure that some of the most vulnerable individuals in the UK have access to quality accommodation and the practical help they need as they navigate the asylum system.

The Transformation and Technology directorate sits at the heart of that mission - using data, technology, and smart delivery to make the contract work better for the people it serves. As Associate Product Owner, you'll be the bridge between subject matter experts and delivery teams, translating real operational needs into clear, actionable product requirements.

This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of people and process - collaborative, curious, and comfortable holding their own in a room full of stakeholders.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Managing and prioritising the product backlog to keep the team focused on what matters most
  • Running sprint planning and working closely with agile delivery teams through each cycle
  • Translating complex business requirements into clear, refined user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple business areas
  • Championing innovation within the bounds of the wider business strategy
  • Communicating progress, blockers, and decisions clearly — upward, downward, and across

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
