Associate Product Owner – Fleet Technology

Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the South East

Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 Basic Salary
Company Bonus Scheme
Holiday: 27 Days + Bank Holidays
Birthday Leave
Pension: Company Pension

The Company

Our client is a market-leading SaaS technology provider delivering business-critical software solutions to a specialist automotive sector across the UK and Europe.

With an established customer base, strong market position and an impressive track record of product innovation, the business continues to invest heavily in both technology and Product. Their platforms support thousands of users and play a key role in streamlining complex operational processes for some of the industry's best-known organisations.

Due to continued growth, they're looking to appoint an Associate Product Owner to join a collaborative Product team and help deliver new functionality across a portfolio of established SaaS products.

The Role

Working alongside Product Managers and Software Engineers, you'll take ownership of product requirements, manage the backlog and ensure development teams have everything they need to successfully deliver new features.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working at the centre of Product and Engineering, translating customer and business requirements into clear, actionable development stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, prioritise and refine the product backlog.
  • Write high-quality user stories and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Gather and document business, customer and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with Software Engineers throughout the Agile development lifecycle.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure features meet business requirements before release.
  • Support product releases and feature rollouts.
  • Work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand problems and identify opportunities for product improvements.
  • Act as the bridge between Product, Engineering and the wider business.

Skills & Experience Required

We're particularly interested in candidates who already have experience working within Agile software development teams and are comfortable owning Product requirements from discovery through to delivery.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Associate Product Owner, Product Analyst or Technical Business Analyst within a SaaS or software environment.
  • Commercial experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience owning or refining product backlogs.
  • Experience working closely with Software Engineers throughout Agile delivery.
  • A strong understanding of Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning and backlog refinement.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work within a fast-paced Product team.
