Associate Project Director - MEP

Associate Project Director (MEP) – Nottingham

About the Role

This role will sit within one of our largest Business Units, Public, Science & Technology. You will act as the Associate Project Director (MEP) on a large-scale construction project in Nottingham.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering MEP services to meet time, budget, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Leading compliance, governance, and assurance while managing Technical and Construction teams.
  • Building and retaining strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead MEP Team:

    • Demonstrate professional behaviours and drive compliance with Mace standards.
    • Ensure time-efficient, high-quality, and profitable delivery through clear direction.
  • Core Project Delivery:

    • Oversee the programme, Health Safety & Wellbeing, Quality & Commissioning for the project.
    • Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate closely with the Client, Consultants, Trade Contractors, and key team leaders.

  • Tendering & Commercial Support:

    • Lead the tendering process and provide expert technical/commercial support to bid teams.
    • Assess contracts/scope, aid budgeting, value engineering, scheduling, and bid strategy development.
  • Resource & Procurement Management:

    • Ensure internal/external resource needs are met while aligning with procurement strategies and budget.
  • Programme & Logistics Coordination:

    • Drive project phases/delivery strategies, aligning milestones, dependencies, and work sequencing.
  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Manage large teams, foster a continuous improvement culture.
    • Guide performance management, technical growth, and career development.

Essential Requirements

Advanced expertise required in:

  • Engineering Systems:

    • Design standards, installation techniques, prefabrication, and commissioning.
    • Proficiency to lead a team through tender to contract completion.
  • Construction Build Management:

    • Sequencing/logistics, dependencies, and coordination with other trade packages.
  • Planning & Scheduling:

    • Critical path analysis, task scheduling, and commissioning activities from pre-construction to completion.

  • Health, Safety & Welfare:

    • Knowledge of working at height, electrical safety, fire safety, logistics, and lifting standards.
  • Quality Assurance & Commissioning:

    • Integration management (BMS, IST systems) to ensure full project completion per programme.
