Job Title: Associate (1–4PQE) Team: Property & Liability Location: Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool (flexible) The Team Clyde & Co’s Property & Liability team is based across London and Manchester acting for a wide range of London market insurers, MGAs, and corporate clients. The team is increasing its focus on specialty areas of the London market including construction all risks, latent defects, and construction and rail liability. The team also works on high value property damage and liability matters including coverage advice, subrogated recoveries and liability defence work. With a strong focus on technical excellence and client service, the team provides an excellent platform for developing lawyers to build deep sector knowledge and progress their careers. The Role Clyde & Co is seeking a number of Associates (1–4 PQE) to join its Property & Liability team. The team is looking to recruit associates based outside London to work closely with the London partners and to work primarily for London clients. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a leading insurance practice, handling a broad mix of high-quality matters for London market clients. The role offers exposure to a diverse caseload, including general property damage and public liability claims, alongside more specialist work including construction and rail liability matters. There are also good opportunities for networking and career development with clients based around the country including in London, Manchester and Leeds. Key Responsibilities Advising insurers and London market clients on insurance policy coverage, including property, business interruption, and public liability policies. Handling specialist coverage matters such as Construction All Risks (CAR) and latent defect insurance. Conducting liability defence work, including managing high-value and complex claims for London market insurers and Managing General Agents (MGAs). Developing defence strategies and handling claims through to resolution, including litigation where required. Managing subrogated recovery claims, including general commercial property losses, construction-related recoveries (including CAR and latent defect claims). Handling a varied caseload of general property damage claims, public liability matters, construction and rail liability disputes, construction defect claims. Supporting clients through all stages of the claims process, from initial instruction through to resolution. Working collaboratively within a specialist team while maintaining responsibility for your own matters. Candidate Profile Qualified solicitor (1–4PQE), ideally with experience in insurance or construction litigation, property damage, or liability claims. Candidates do not need to have experience in all relevant areas to be considered. A willingness to develop expertise in specialist areas such as insurance coverage and construction. Excellent analytical and drafting skills. Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines. Strong client relationship and communication skills. A proactive and team-oriented approach.
