Role Purpose
We are seeking an Associate to support the growth of the Student Housing - Living Capital Markets business line. The position would suit someone with a background in student housing either having worked within an operator, valuation business or having a strong knowledge of the Student Housing market. Having a working knowledge of the wider residential market as well as a high attention to detail and strong client relationship management skills will also be required.
The primary function of the role is to assist the Student Housing - Living Capital Markets business line in underwriting development and investment opportunities and providing transactional support, where appropriate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the transaction team with a detailed understanding of real estate appraisals and helping present these to our clients. The role is analytically focused and would ideally be suited to someone with strong valuation skills.
What this job involves
- Assisting in the growth of the Student Housing - Living Capital Markets business through strategic client engagement, advising on acquisition and disposal opportunities whilst acting as a trusted client advisor.
- Preparation of reports and marketing material for a variety of purposes, including underwriting pipeline opportunities and potential new acquisitions.
- Financial modelling and appraisal of opportunities.
- Liaise with professionals across internal and external networks to source investment opportunities.
- Ability to run and support both buy and sell side positions either standalone or directly with directors in the business.
- Increasingly varied role within both EMEA and wider Living is also part of the medium term opportunity.
- Primarily reporting to the Head of UK Student Housing.

What you need to be successful
Sound like you? To apply you need to be / have:
- 2-3 years of knowledge of the student housing investment market.
- Valuation, operational or capital markets experience.
- Experience in development and investment, with a focus on working knowledge of the student investment markets and local market dynamics.
- Strong team ethos with excellent communication skills and ability to work with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, to prepare client reports and presentations in a clear manner.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience of reviewing operational financial performance and financial statements.
- Confidence to present logical and reasoned arguments to support your underwriting but the ability to work within a team environment.
- Effective project management skills, working to tight timelines and prioritising tasks to ensure timely reporting to our clients.
- Enthusiasm, with a strong sense of commitment to a career in a growing/dynamic/fast-paced part of the business.
