Salary on appointment will be £31,236 per annum, with an annual increment up to £37,694 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join Norwich Medical School to support a programme of research on sedation from antipsychotics, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

This programme aims to understand more about sedation from antipsychotics in psychosis and its impacts on patients, including developing improved measurement of sedation, with the aim of improving patient outcomes in NHS services.

You will support activity across the proposed programme of research, including with:

  • Recruitment of clinical participants (working with NHS colleagues and wider networks)
  • Consent and data collection
  • Input into analysis and write up
  • Administration of project meetings
  • Dissemination of research findings

This research will involve working closely and collaboratively with NHS mental health services, particularly in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), which is jointly hosting the project.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A graduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology)
  • Strong organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in conducting research or in working in the NHS (particularly in psychosis) will be advantageous
  • The role is well-suited to individuals seeking to pursue either clinical psychology doctorate training or academic career pathways

Requirements:

  • Ability to undertake regular travel to locations that are not accessible via public transport across East Anglia, including Cambridgeshire

Job Details:

  • This full-time post is available from 1 September 2026 on a fixed term basis until 1 March 2029
  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Vulnerable Adult Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to vulnerable adults.
