Associate - Residential Property Sales
Are you a real estate lawyer looking to work on high-profile residential developments with some of the UK's leading developers, registered providers and local authorities?
At Trowers & Hamlins, we’re seeking a talented and commercially minded lawyer to join our thriving Residential Sales Team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale residential developments across the UK, working on a broad range of plot sales and development matters from site setup through to completion and beyond.
The Opportunity
You will manage a varied caseload of new build development matters, supporting both freehold and leasehold schemes nationwide. Working alongside colleagues across our Real Estate practice, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring developments are sales-ready and supporting transactions across the full development lifecycle.
Our Residential Sales Team provides specialist advice on:
- Open market and shared ownership sales
- Development site set-up and plot sales conveyancing
- Interim and final staircasing transactions
- Lease extensions and licence to assign applications
- Buy-backs and re-sales
- Multi-phased, multi-tenure development schemes

You’ll collaborate closely with acquisition teams, clients, and specialist lawyers across the firm, helping deliver practical, commercial solutions for a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Setting up development sites for plot sales (e.g., preparing precedent documentation and sale packs)
- Drafting and negotiating transfers, leases, and shared ownership leases for residential developments
- Advising acquisition teams on title matters and sales compatibility
- Supporting and mentoring sales and post-sales teams, including paralegals and CILEX-qualified fee earners
- Working with specialist teams on matters such as energy arrangements, litigation, and wider property issues
- Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives (e.g., presentations, seminars, and thought leadership)
- Managing matters efficiently while supporting team and firm financial objectives
About You
We’re looking for candidates who:
- Have experience in residential development, plot sales, or residential conveyancing work
- Enjoy managing a varied caseload and building trusted client relationships
- Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- possess strong drafting and technical skills
- are commercially aware and motivated to support business growth
- enjoy mentoring and supporting junior colleagues
