Overview of role
An award-winning, design-led engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Associate - Sustainability to join its established Sustainability team in the South-West.
You will lead sustainability and commercial strategies on high-profile, design-led developments, working with ambitious clients committed to advancing environmental performance. This role combines technical leadership, client engagement, team development, and business growth.
You will play a key part in delivering commercially sound, human-centred and environmentally responsible solutions, helping shape projects from concept through to completion.
Role responsibilities and requirements
You will:
- Manage client relationships and act as a senior project lead.
- Monitor project finances, contribute to fee proposals, and support invoicing.
- Support business development and regional work-winning initiatives.
- Lead workshops and clearly communicate technical information to design teams and stakeholders.
- Oversee modelling and analysis including whole life carbon, embodied carbon, operational energy, overheating and circular economy strategies.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and industry engagement activities.

Key skills and qualities needed
Professional capabilities
- Significant experience within sustainability consultancy in a design-led environment.
- Chartered or working towards professional accreditation.
- Confident leading multidisciplinary sustainability workshops.
- Commercially aware with experience managing project performance.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing colleagues.

Specialist knowledge
- Strong knowledge in several of the following (specialist depth in selected areas expected):
- Energy strategy development
- Building Regulations compliance modelling
- Environmental certification delivery (e.g. BREEAM, HQM or equivalent)
- Sustainability, energy and whole life carbon planning documentation
- Circular economy strategy development
