About the Role: Court of Protection Team

We’re recruiting Paralegals/Solicitors across Bristol, Cardiff, and Southampton.

The Court of Protection sets legal decisions for property, financial affairs, and health/welfare of those without mental capacity. We’re Tier 1-ranked in the Legal 500, specialising in:

  • Managing property/financial affairs of individuals can’t acts for themselves due to injury, medical negligence, birth trauma, or dementia.

About the team: Highly skilled, collaborative, with diverse casework. You’ll own autonomy, develop clients (turning leads into new work) while overseeing settlements up to £millions using Deputyships/Trusts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Settlement management:
    • Oversee multi-million-pound controversies
  • Client service planning:
    • Chair Annual Review Meetings
    • Facilitate property transactions & care assets
    • Prepare Statutory Will applications
  • Leadership:
    • Run your own caseload
    • Oversee Deputies for high-quality outcomes
  • Teamwork:
    • Work with solicitors/paralegals for seamless support
  • Business growth:
    • Engage clients and develop prospects

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is empathetic, resilient, with a heart for helping vulnerable clients
  • Communicates clarity and empathy (written & verbally)
  • Thrives under pressure (managed caseloads with meticulous detail)
  • Operates independent but collaboratively
  • Driven by making a lasting impact on clients’ lives

Experience & Qualifications

  • 4–8 years post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Deep knowledge of Court of Protection procedures & legal adversaries
  • Desirable: Experience with critical-illness/injury courts (ME/NE/NHS)
  • Desirable: Private client expertise
