The value you’ll add:
HSBC Innovation Banking’s Strategic Fund Solutions (“SFS”) team manages key aspects of the bank’s relationships with Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital clients. SFS optimises the client experience through dedicated relationship management and by delivering the breadth of HSBC’s capabilities to the sector, including banking, lending, treasury and foreign exchange.
Emerging Managers is a specialist coverage team within SFS, focused on building trusted banking relationships with the UK’s most exciting emerging and established venture capital firms. We’re looking for an Associate to support Relationship Managers’ portfolio of VC relationships.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Relationship and portfolio support: Partner with Global Relationship Managers (GRMs) to support relationship management and portfolio oversight across a book of Emerging Manager clients, including supporting new and existing account requests
- Cross-sell and referrals: Help drive ancillary cross-sell opportunities and outbound referrals, supporting the delivery of holistic banking solutions to new and existing clients
- Account planning and collaboration: Contribute to account plans and work closely with internal stakeholders (i.e. other coverage/product teams)
- Risk and compliance support: Assist with relationship risk activities, including KYC refreshes, financial crime-related activities, and ensuring compliance requirements are met across the portfolio (including ownership of CME records and pipeline maintenance)
- Strategic relationship management: Support strategic client engagement to maintain and develop trusted partner/adviser status, helping drive growth and innovation
- Commercial outcomes: Contribute to relationship returns in collaboration with product partners (e.g., Trade and Treasury Solutions, Asset Management, FX, etc.)
- Ecosystem connectivity: Work with stakeholders across HINV/HSBC to deepen relationships with strategic fund managers and their portfolio companies, leveraging HINV’s network across the ecosystem
- Marketing and events: Support marketing activity, events, and sponsorships
- Client service excellence: Deliver excellent client service, driving advocacy and supporting sustained NPS growth

Requirements:

- Experience in commercial banking, venture capital, private equity, research, or a related field
- Ability to work independently and deliver assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Strong organisational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of HSBC’s operations and products
- Genuine interest in (and desire to learn about) the venture capital and private equity sector
Where you’ll be based:
Our home office in Finsbury Square, London. We offer hybrid working to our employees, so you can flex between home and the office, with a current requirement to be in the office 3 days per week
