Waterman Building Structures - Associate Director Opportunity
Waterman Building Structures’ busy Bristol office is seeking to recruit a Chartered or near Chartered Engineer to the position of Associate Director to form an integral part of the Structures team.
Reporting directly to the Regional Director, you will play a key leadership role in the delivery and management of structural engineering projects across a diverse portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a growing and dynamic regional office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, inspection, and assessment of a wide range of structural materials and forms
- Manage multiple projects and clients across sectors including Retail, Industrial, Residential, Telecommunications, Technology, and Leisure
- Provide technical leadership and ensure high-quality project delivery across the team
- Take responsibility for resource planning, workload management, and project performance
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, supporting repeat business and new opportunities
- Oversee financial management of projects, including fee monitoring and profitability
- Support and actively contribute to the mentoring and development of engineers within the team
- Work collaboratively with regional leadership to support business growth and strategy

About You
- Chartered or near Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural engineering consultancy
- Proven track record in delivering complex projects across multiple sectors
- Strong experience in managing multiple clients and concurrent projects
- Excellent client-facing, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability in time management, delegation, and team coordination
- Experience in financial and commercial management of projects
- A proactive, collaborative, and commercially aware approach
