Overview

We are seeking an experienced Associate Sustainability & Carbon Consultant to join our growing Carbon and Sustainability team. This is a senior position combining project delivery, technical leadership, people management, and business development. You will play a critical leadership role in our London-based team, you will help shape our local presence, support the growth and development of our people, and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.

AtkinsRéalis is one of the world's leading design, engineering, and project management consultancies, offering the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting infrastructure and sustainability challenges of our time. Our Carbon and Sustainability team consists of specialists working across sustainability strategy, ESG, whole life carbon, net zero advisory, and sustainable infrastructure delivery. We work across major infrastructure, transportation, water, energy, government, and industrial sectors, supporting clients to achieve their sustainability ambitions and transition towards a low-carbon, resilient, and nature-positive future.

We are looking for a professional with strong technical expertise in one or more of our core service areas, commercial awareness, and a passion for developing people. You will be comfortable delivering complex projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, building trusted client relationships, and winning work.

As a leader for our London team, we believe that visible leadership and regular face-to-face collaboration are important to building team culture, supporting colleagues, and developing client relationships. We would therefore expect the successful candidate to have a strong London office presence, ideally around three days per week.

As part of our friendly, collaborative, and supportive team, you will play a key role in growing our team's capability, mentoring colleagues, and delivering meaningful work that helps clients reduce carbon, embed sustainability, and create lasting environmental, social, and economic value.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
