Associate Transport Planner (Development Planning) – Birmingham
Development Planning | Transport Assessments | Private Sector Consultancy | Career Progression with International Consultancy
Salary: £60,000–£70,000 + benefits (dependent on experience)
A leading International multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Transport Planner or ambitious Principal Transport Planner to join their growing Birmingham team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a development-focused transport professional with private sector consultancy experience, who enjoys working closely with developers, architects, planners and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver successful planning outcomes.
The role will involve providing transport planning advice on a range of development projects, supporting clients from early feasibility and site promotion through to planning applications, condition discharge and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver transport planning projects for private sector development clients
- Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and supporting technical documents
- Provide transport advice to support planning applications and development proposals
- Assess highway and transport impacts associated with residential, commercial and mixed-use developments
- Manage client relationships and contribute to business development and work winning activities
- Liaise with developers, Local Authorities, Highway Authorities and multidisciplinary consultant teams
- Support and mentor junior transport planners within the Birmingham team
About You: We are keen to speak with professionals who have:
- Associate-level or Principal Transport Planner experience within a consultancy environment
- Strong experience in development planning and private sector transport consultancy
- Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
- Understanding of the planning process and highway development considerations
- Confidence managing client relationships and contributing to successful project delivery
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients, stakeholders and technical teams
- A commercial mindset with an interest in supporting team growth and business development
