Salary range £61.39 per hour (starting rate, inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay)

Role Overview
Birkbeck, University of London, invites applications for an Associate Tutor to deliver teaching across seven foundational law subjects, with a special focus on Tort Law for the Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027 terms.
You will teach:
- Autumn Term: Wednesdays, 6:00–7:30pm (in-person)
- Spring Term: Mondays, 6:00–7:30pm (in-person)
Ideal for candidates with:
- Specialist knowledge in Tort Law or foundational legal subjects
- A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., LLB + LLM) or equivalent professional experience
Duties
- Teach Tort Law and assist with foundational law subjects
- Prepare, deliver, and assess course materials
- Engage with students to foster an impactful learning experience

Requirements
Must have one of the following:
- An LLM (or equivalent postgraduate degree) alongside an LLB (or equivalent covering the seven foundations of UK legal knowledge)
- Substantial professional legal experience (equivalent to the above qualifications)
Remuneration
- Hourly rate: £61.39 (includes duties-related teaching multiplier 2.5x covering prep, teaching, assessment, and exams)
- Salary set under Grade 6 of Birkbeck’s pay structure
- Fully inclusive (day rates, holiday pay, London Allowance for contact hours)
