About the Role
Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham and London. We are currently recruiting for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Employment team.
This role presents a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop your career within an experienced team. This role will be based in the Nottingham office but will work as part of the wider national team providing excellent, high quality legal advice to new and existing clients.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in various projects as well as business development activities such as our Employment Power Hours and seminars.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide clients with appropriate guidance and advice on all aspects of employment law.
- Draft, review, analyse and negotiate a wide range of legal documents relevant to the area of law.
- Undertake case management of employment tribunal claims and undertake tribunal advocacy when required.
- Advise on case strategy and proactively make service improvements and cross-referrals.
- Analyse problems, highlight areas of risk and think critically to resolve issues.
- Exercise sound financial management by ensuring that work is undertaken at the right level.
- Ensure an excellent standard of time recording as well as meeting chargeable hours and billing targets.
- Develop and maintain good client relationships and enhance the Firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing and new clients.
- Demonstrate a planned approach to business development, attending events and actively targeting new work.
- Maintain the level of competence and knowledge to practice efficiently by keeping abreast with changes and developments in the law.
- Proactively share advice and knowledge with team members, supervising junior members where required.
- Actively participate in team business development including preparation of articles, briefing guides and training sessions, including delivery of training sessions.
- Proactively develop an understanding of other complementary areas of work such as data protection, business immigration and any other relevant areas.
- Lead by example at all times in line with the SRA standards.
- Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and post.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEx with relevant experience in the field of employment law and an excellent level of technical legal knowledge.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads, prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
- Ability to communicate confidently with clients and colleagues.
- A confident presenter with the ability to project a professional image.
- Experience of employment tribunal work and advocacy would be desirable.
- Experience of or willingness to develop expertise in business immigration and data protection law is desirable.

- 35 hour working week - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to a maximum of 30 days for additional years of service)
