Job Opportunities: Associate and Senior Associate – Housing Development and Regeneration Team (Leeds)
We are seeking a qualified solicitor to join our Housing Development and Regeneration team in Leeds.
About The Team
The Housing Development and Regeneration team, one of the top teams in the UK, sits within our Real Estate Group, the third largest Real Estate practice in the UK.
The team consists of:
- 12 partners
- A team of lawyers and paralegals
- Assist clients in residential development and housing-led regeneration across all aspects.
This position is based in our Leeds office, which:
- Leads operations across the North of England
- Acts as the regional leader for residential development in the region
- Led by Partner Julia Field and supported by 8 other fee earners
Our clients include:
- Housebuilders such as Barratt, Taylor Wimpey, Vistry, Persimmon, Bloor, Miller, Crest Nicholson, Bellway, Avant
- High-profile developers like Harworth and Muse
- Public sector bodies including Leeds City Council, Kirklees Council, London Borough of Barnet, and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority
- Landowners looking to sell to residential/mixed development clients
Focus areas of our expertise:
- Acquisitions and disposals of land
- Overage arrangements and security
- Strategic work relating to option and promotion agreements
- Collaborative arrangements like joint ventures and site assembly
- Planning and infrastructure agreements
- Building licenses, development agreements, mixed-use schemes
- Private rented sector and public sector-led development, including regeneration
- Institutional investments in residential sector
- Funding agreements

About The Roles
Associate (NQ-2PQE)
- Provide cutting-edge specialist advice on residential development and housing-led projects
- Support and lead on transactions as your experience grows
- Work alongside senior team members and multi-disciplinary colleagues (e.g., planning, tax, construction)
- Training, mentoring, and professional development provided through our tailored programs, mentoring, and supervision by Leeds colleagues
Senior Associate (3-5PQE)
- Lead complex transactions
- Supervise junior team members
- Provide crucial roles in client management and project coordination
About You
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor (minimum NQ) with experience or passion for residential development
- Committed to growing your career within this niche sector
- Enjoy working in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Focused on high-quality client service and building enduring relationships
Key Attributes Needed:
- Ability to manage caseloads under tight deadlines, prioritise workloads effectively, and remain under pressure
- Capability to supervise and develop junior colleagues
- Sound commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and clear communication
- Strong collaborative skills working with internal teams, clients, and third parties like local authorities, agents, surveyors
- Ability to engage in business development and marketing efforts
- Capacity to work across national and regional client pitches
