The role…
We are currently recruiting a Associate/Senior Associate Building Surveyor to join our Norwich office.
The role will involve providing an efficient and effective building surveying service to the Practice, and its clients. The post holder will be able to deliver, design, develop, plan, coordinate, supervise, and project manage building schemes in addition to making a significant contribution to the development of the team.
Please Note: This role may be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service, Baseline Personnel Security Standard, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check, or Developed Vetting clearance.
The selected candidate will…
- Be involved in and lead on the delivery of building surveying led projects from inception to completion including all stages from concept and appraisals, through planning applications and building control, budget control, preparation of documents for procurement including selection of appropriate form of contract, tender process and analysis, contract management, and site supervision through to closing out of accounts and end of defects resolution.
- Support the delivery of varying sizes of projects across a potential range of sectors including education, commercial, industrial, healthcare, defence, residential
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the team and the wider senior management in the development of the team, Norwich office, and wider discipline.
- Mentor and support apprentice and graduate staff to grow their skills, obtain their professional qualification, and excel in delivery.
- Project manage the delivery of projects up to £5m in value, fully coordinating the internal project team.
- Meet annual and monthly fee targets as directed by the Office Partner.

Essential skills, experience, and attributes…
- Chartered membership with RICS.
- Post-qualification experience following chartered membership with RICS.
- A genuine interest and track record in business development and building strong client relationships within East Anglia.
- The motivation to help grow and develop a larger building surveying team in Norwich.
- Project management experience.
- A sound understanding of the commercial aspects of practice, including preparing fee quotations and managing project finances.
- Experience of project commercial management, including monitoring fee spend, programme, resources, and profitability.
- An interest in mentoring, supporting, and developing junior members of staff as the Norwich surveying team grows.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide strong client care and manage client relationships professionally.
- The ability to help open new work sectors for the Practice, with the potential to introduce, develop, and manage client relationships that support growth.
- Advanced NBS specification writing and JCT contract selection and administration experience
