Job Title: Assistant Engineer – Structural Maintenance

About The Role

The County Council is seeking to recruit an Assistant Engineer to work alongside our Design Engineers, focusing on carriageway and footway resurfacing schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in initial scheme selection, including:
    • Visiting sites to validate condition data
    • Suggesting and costing potential remedial treatments
    • Producing cost estimates
  • Contribute essential data for yearly capital programme formulation
  • Provide treatment advice and cost estimates to the wider highways team
  • Support the Structural Maintenance Team across Gloucestershire via:
    • Auditing contractor performance
    • Conducting site checks during project delivery
    • Reviewing data and estimating future scheme costs
  • Offer expertise in emergencies and deliver customer-focused service

Prior engineering knowledge or construction-related qualifications will be beneficial.
