Assistant Merchandiser UK Outlets Team – M&S

About the Role
As an Assistant Merchandiser in the UK Outlets team, your role will play a key part in fulfilling commercial plans by ensuring great products reach customers at the right time, place, and stock levels. This position focuses on analysis, collaboration, and performance-driven execution across forecasting, intake, and markdown strategies.
This 12-month Fixed Term role is based at our Paddington Support Office (minimum 3 days per week).
What You’ll Do
Support the delivery of department strategy with ownership of:
- Sales, stock, and intake forecasts to maintain strong availability and effective markdown management
- In-season trade analysis to identify opportunities and risks, aligning with cross-functional teams to maximise sales and optimise stock performance
- Quarterly range and intake planning in collaboration with Merchandising and Buying teams to ensure the right products reach the right quantities at launch and throughout the season
- Key planning activities, including range reviews, lessons learned, and maintenance of planning tools and markdown documentation for data-driven decision-making
- End-to-end critical path management with Sourcing and Supply Chain, while tracking competitor activity to inform pricing and strategy

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong merchandising fundamentals, including sales and stock planning, forecasting, intake management, and markdown control to drive profitable performance
- A deep understanding of the buy-to-store process, with the ability to manage critical timelines and ensure smooth delivery across Outlet operations
- Highly analytical and numerate, with expertise in interpreting performance data, spotting trends, and using insights to maximise sales opportunities
- Advanced technical skills, including proficient Excel use and adaptability to evolving merchandising systems
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across Buying, Design, Sourcing, and broader teams while managing competing priorities
