Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the role

Audit is all about examining organisations and ensuring their published accounts provide a 'true and fair' view of their financial position and results. As a graduate trainee, you will challenge and question financial records provided by companies to ensure high audit quality. The work is challenging and rewarding. A questioning mindset is a must, alongside agility and diligence in your approach.

On this programme, you'll study for the ACA qualification. Once completed, you will have developed valuable technical skills, broad commercial understanding, and in-depth knowledge of some industry sectors. These skills will be invaluable in building a career in audit, or wider financial roles.

As part of a rapidly growing team, fully integrated with the US, the experience at FD will be different to elsewhere. We provide opportunities to understand service lines outside of the audit function, as well as work closely with the senior leadership team in our firm.

What will my day-to-day look like as an audit associate?

Each day is a little bit different as an audit associate, so if you value variety, this may be a great fit for you! Your daily work may include:

  • Working with seniors and managers on a variety of client engagements from various industries
  • Gaining testing experience in many sections of the audit, including planning procedures, various balance sheet and income statement testing areas, and reporting procedures
  • Working on ad-hoc projects for the department as they arise
  • Communicating on a daily basis with both team members and clients
  • Being an active contributor on your teams
  • Thrive in a hybrid working environment by being present in the office 3 days a week and maintaining a strong work ethic in your home environment
  • Building relationships with team members and clients
  • Reviewing feedback with your seniors and managers to continue to improve your work
  • Networking with FD team members at firm social events
  • Developing a career path with your performance manager and actively seeking guidance
