Attendance Support Assistant Apprentice – Data Technician
About The Job
Salary: £24,413 a year Hours per week: 37 Contract type: Apprenticeship
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Attendance Improvement Team as an Attendance Support Assistant Apprentice – Data Technician. This role offers valuable experience while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification in Data Technician.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative and procedural support for the collection, management, and analysis of attendance and attainment data for children in care, those receiving education outside school, and individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Maintaining accurate records in System C, collecting attendance data from educational settings, and ensuring data input, verification, and upkeep of the highest standard.
- Addressing data anomalies, database maintenance, and troubleshooting as necessary for system accuracy.
- Collaborating with colleagues and educational providers to gather and analyse data for reporting, creating simple dashboards, and offering support in interpreting data-driven decisions for improved outcomes.
- Assisting colleagues to effectively utilise data while ensuring compliance with data protection and cybersecurity requirements.
- Enhancing your knowledge in data management, IT systems, and industry best practice through professional development.
This apprenticeship provides an outstanding opportunity to contribute meaningfully and develop technical, analytical, and communication skills that bolster educational outcomes for children and young people across Luton.

About You
You should have an enthusiastic and organised attitude, combined with a strong interest in data management, information security, and enhancing child/youth outcomes. Essential traits include:
- Experience in managing personal and sensitive information discreetly.
- Attention to detail to guarantee both computerised and manual records remain current and accurate.
- Strong and discrete communication skills to interact constructively with colleagues, education providers, agencies, and members of the public.
- An eye for precision and ability to manage diverse tasks while meeting deadlines efficiently.
- Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion, emphasising the fairness of services and the impact of discrimination.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development.

Required Qualifications:
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
- Alternatively, a willingness to complete these qualifications during your apprenticeship.
You should be flexible, adaptable, and prepared for concise, short-notice schedule changes—occasionally requiring evening work.

Bearing in mind this position's nature, the appropriate criminal record disclosure will be required.
