Audio & Voice Experience Engineer
Haverhill, Suffolk | Hybrid working with regular studio attendance
Competitive salary, dependent on experience
This is not a conventional studio engineering role. You will be combining professional audio production with AI, voice technology and immersive digital experiences, helping to create characters that can hold natural, engaging conversations with real people.
Working from a dedicated recording studio in Haverhill, you will take ownership of how voices are captured, edited, enhanced and deployed across a growing conversational AI platform. Your work could support an interactive museum exhibit, a healthcare experience, a retail environment, a live event or an entirely new form of digital entertainment.
It’s a varied role spanning studio recording, sound design, technical troubleshooting and emerging voice technology. You will work closely with AI engineers, developers, artists and content teams, balancing creative ambition with the technical detail needed to deliver consistently high-quality audio.
What you’ll be doing
- Recording, editing, mixing, mastering and optimising voice content for AI-powered digital characters
- Configuring professional studio, field and live recording environments
- Applying noise reduction, audio restoration, echo cancellation and enhancement techniques
- Supporting voice cloning, text-to-speech and voice synthesis projects
- Creating sound effects, ambient audio, branded soundscapes and bespoke audio experiences
- Selecting and optimising microphones for different environments and deployment requirements
- Testing and improving speech recognition accuracy, voice clarity and conversational performance
- Configuring and troubleshooting Windows-based audio production systems, interfaces and recording hardware
- Developing audio production standards, workflows, asset libraries, backup processes and version control
- Supporting exhibitions, demonstrations, customer installations and live events

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
