Audio Typist - Urology
Audio Typist Vacancy – Urology Team
(Band 2 – Full-time, Permanent)
Introduction
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical professions. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, with additional regional coverage.
The Role
We are seeking an audio typist to join our Urology team, responsible for accurately transcribing medical reports, letters, and clinical documents. The role supports:
- Urology Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists
- Junior medical staff
- Secretarial and administrative teams
Key requirements include:
- Strong initiative
- Strict adherence to patient confidentiality
- Excellent time management to meet typing performance targets
⚠️ Important Note: Band 2 roles are not eligible for Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa sponsorship. Unless otherwise specified, sponsorship eligibility will be assessed individually.
Work hours:
- Monday to Friday
- Permanent, full-time
- Base location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribing medical documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in typed reports, letters, and clinical documents.
- Supporting urology clinicians by providing a comprehensive typing service to Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and junior doctors.
- Offering support to secretarial teams and administrative colleagues as required.
- Providing occasional general admin support for the wider team.
- Managing a self-directed workload, scheduling tasks to meet performance targets and service needs.
- Maintaining confidentiality, ensuring patient information is handled securely and appropriately.

Required Knowledge, Training, Qualifications & Experience
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently and with initiative
- Awareness of confidentiality requirements and data protection
