Audit Associate – Chartered Accountancy Firm (Southampton)
Currently recruiting: A leading firm of Chartered Accountants based in Southampton seeks a dedicated Audit Associate with circa 2 years' auditing experience in a practice environment.
About the Role
This role involves working with a diverse client portfolio, including:
- Owner-managed businesses
- Corporate entities
- Non-profit organisations
As part of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with Audit Managers and Audit Seniors to manage and deliver audit assignments across the Southern region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the full audit lifecycle, from planning to execution, ensuring high standards of delivery.
- Prepare audit reports and other client deliverables, while building strong client relationships.
- Plan assignments, including budgeting and analytical reviews.
- Conduct stock takes and other on-site audit activities.
- Draft financial statements under FRS102 and IFRS.
- Research and resolve technical audit issues.
- Engage with other service lines to enhance client service and referral opportunities.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues to foster professional growth.
- Attend training to maintain technical expertise and progress professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, ACA, Level 4 AAT).

Requirements
Essential:
✔ At least 2 years’ experience in audit, ideally gained in a practice setting. ✔ Qualification progression:
- ACCA (exam progressed)
- ACA
- Level 4 AAT/ (in progress)
✔ Demonstrates strong communication, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and technical proficiency in:
- UK GAAP
- International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)
- Companies Law
✔ Experience of working with owner-managed businesses preferred.
✔ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
✔ Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for client travel.
